Services

Overview

I provide comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and treatment plans for individuals struggling with any aspect of their mental health, ranging from mild anxiety and depression to severe bipolar illness and schizophrenia to underlying neurological or medical disorders with psychiatric manifestations. Over the course of an initial 90-minute evaluation and subsequent 30-60-minute follow-up sessions, we will work together to try to obtain diagnostic clarity, and then we will create an integrative treatment plan that may include medications, psychotherapy, nutritional supplementation, lifestyle interventions, psychoeducation, bibliotherapy, and/or other treatment modalities.

Additional clinical information from intake forms and any provided past medical/psychiatric records and collateral information (etc.) will be reviewed by me prior to our appointments and discussed with you during our appointments. Any additional testing or medical workup that is indicated will be ordered. I am based out of the Northern Kentucky/Greater Cincinnati area and will be available to see people in-office in the future, but I am only offering virtual appointments at this time.

I do not accept any insurance plans. However, I understand that not everybody is able to go outside of the insurance system for their long-term healthcare, and thus I have several different treatment tracks that can be taken, as described below. This is not something that you need to decide on beforehand, as we will discuss the various options during our initial appointment. Regardless of which track you ultimately decide to take, you can always return to this clinic for a reevaluation in the future. Of note, I do offer pro bono services but availability is currently limited - please reach out for further details.

  • One option is to make an intake appointment and then continue seeing me for follow-ups for however long is felt necessary. Some people only need to see a psychiatrist for ~3-6+ months and then it is no longer necessary; other people would benefit from long-term care due to the need for maintenance medications or intensive psychotherapy (etc) with appointment frequency typically ranging from 1-3 months, depending on the circumstances. This is the “Standard” track.

  • A second option is to make an intake appointment and continue seeing me for ~3-6+ months before either returning to a previous provider who is aware of this plan or simply requesting that a new provider or your PCP take over control of any medications that you may be prescribed from this clinic. In this case, the idea would be to make sure that we’re giving ourselves enough time to feel confident in our diagnosis and be well underway on our integrative treatment plan, but then to transition to a different provider who accepts your insurance for longer-term care. While I cannot guarantee that the other provider will continue our agreed-upon treatment plan, I will thoroughly communicate my thoughts and recommendations in writing to both you and them to facilitate a smooth transition of care, and I would also be willing to collaborate with them over time while seeing you for periodic check-ins if/as needed. Providers who are interested in this option for their patients can request a consultation here. This is the “Bridging” track.

  • A third option is to commit to only seeing me for as long as it takes for us to confidently obtain diagnostic clarity and formulate the plan for longer-term treatment, but not long enough for us to formally implement the plan ourselves. Sometimes we are able to do this in a single 90-minute intake session, but other times it takes a few visits to really see things clearly. I will always do my best to find answers, develop a treatment plan, and write an appropriate report as quickly and efficiently as I can, but I cannot always guarantee that we will be confident in our assessment after only a single visit. After all, the most important single factor in achieving diagnostic clarity is what we call “course of illness,” or: how things play out over time. We rely on taking a comprehensive history to track things backwards in time, but the only way to track things forward is to monitor them in real time as life unfolds and treatment plans are implemented (or not). This is the pure “Second Opinion” track for which I will provide medication recommendations if indicated, but will not personally prescribe said medications. Providers who are interested in this option for their patients can request a consultation here.

Appointments + Rates

I am currently accepting new patients via telehealth in Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana.

I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so that we can learn a bit more about one another and see if we would be a good fit to work together. If you’d like to book a consultation call with me, click here. You can also opt out of the screening call and directly make an intake appointment with me here.

For a more detailed breakdown of the various fees and services, see the fee structure table.

NOTE: I can provide an itemized receipt or superbill for your appointments that may allow you to get reimbursement from your insurance company if you have out-of-network benefits, but I do not currently accept any insurance plans.

Initial Evaluation - $350

The intake appointment will last 90 minutes, and additional time will be spent by me before and after the appointment reviewing provided forms and records, thinking through any complexities and complications, completing all required documentation and ordering, and communicating with any additional relevant parties. I will spend time getting to know you, your story, and your current struggle as you see it while also taking a careful past medical, psychiatric, and social history so that I can create an accurate formulation.

At the end of this appointment, we will discuss diagnostic considerations as well as additional recommendations which might include medications, labs/imaging/studies, neuropsychological testing, lifestyle intervention counseling, formal psychotherapy suggestions, etc. Depending on the circumstances, I may also look to coordinate care with your PCP, therapist, psychiatric nurse practitioner/physician assistant, or other medical specialists.

If you are seeking to work with me in an intermediate or longer-term fashion, I will be the one who sends in any indicated medications to the pharmacy. However, if you are strictly seeking a short-term second opinion from me, then we will discuss at this time if it would be necessary for us to meet again in the coming weeks for any additional 30-60 minute appointments or if we feel sufficiently confident that we have come to a working conclusion such that no further appointments are necessary. In that case, I will offer a written summary of my diagnostic assessment and treatment recommendations that can be given to your PCP or another mental health professional.

60-Minute Follow-Up - $300-$325

This appointment is typically reserved for when 90 minutes is insufficient for a full, proper intake evaluation to be completed and we need additional time in the subsequent week(s) or if somebody is a former patient of the clinic who is seeking to re-establish care in some capacity. However, there are also situations that call for 60-minute follow-ups rather than 30-minute follow-ups for routine care, e.g. during a time of crisis, when dealing with complex presentations, or if more intensive psychotherapy is being administered. In these cases, these appointments will serve the same function as the standard 30-minute follow-ups but will give us more time to work together. 60-minute appointment slots are limited at this time and can only be scheduled with prior approval by the clinic. There is a sliding scale range for the fee based on how recently you were last seen - see fee structure table for further information.

$300-$325

30-Minute Follow-Up - $200-$250

This is our standard follow-up appointment during which the diagnostic evaluation that was started during the intake appointment is continued as new information and additional observations or insights are acquired. The treatment plan that was initiated after the intake is monitored over time so that we can make adjustments as indicated. Psychotherapeutic interventions of various sorts will always be a part of these appointments and will go hand-in-hand with any medication management or other integrative treatments that are implemented. We will continue to hone our diagnostic assessment and integrative treatment plan over time with these appointments as the backbone of our collaborative work. There is a sliding scale for the fee based on how recently you were last seen - see fee structure table for further information.
